Zenora - mental health app

Project Overview

Zenora is a mental health app that pairs a daily mood check-in with guided breathing, yoga, and gratitude exercises. A returning user opens on a Physical State card showing Mood, Stress, and Focus scores rolled into one Mind Score, then can start a guided Breathing Exercise directly from the dashboard. itcroc designed the onboarding screen, the mood-tracking dashboard, and the breathing-exercise player, using a soft pink-and-yellow palette and hand-drawn illustration to keep a mental health product feeling approachable rather than clinical.

The Challenge

A mental health app lives or dies on how carefully its own language is written, since the product’s entire premise is attention to a user’s internal state. The dashboard’s daily check-in heading reads How’s your Mode Today? instead of Mood, misspelling the exact word the whole screen is built to ask about. The Activities row repeats the pattern, the third card reads Graditude instead of Gratitude. The Breathing Exercise screen compounds this with two smaller errors in its own core instruction, Breath In instead of the verb Breathe In, and 10 Second instead of 10 Seconds, on the single largest piece of text a user reads mid-exercise.

Project Goals

A mental wellness app lives or dies on how carefully its own language is written, since the product’s entire premise is attention to a user’s internal state.

The Solution

  • Fix “How’s your Mode Today?” to “How’s your Mood Today?” on the daily check-in card, since the exact word the screen is asking about is currently misspelled.
  • Fix “Graditude” to “Gratitude” on the third Activities card.
  • Change “Breath In” to “Breathe In” and “10 Second” to “10 Seconds” on the breathing exercise screen, correcting the verb form and the plural on the single largest text a user reads during the exercise.
  • Rename the “Physical State” card, or split it, since it currently displays Mood, Stress, and Focus, three cognitive and emotional metrics, under a label that describes the body.
  • Keep the five-point mood picker’s color-coded faces and the donut-chart Mind Score, since together they let a user log how they feel and see the same feeling reflected back as one number without reading a paragraph.
