Price-consistent shopping flow for a grocery app

Jamify, a specialty jam grocery app, needed the same product to show the same price on every screen a shopper sees it.

Jamify, specialty jam and preserve shopping app

[ 01 - OVERVIEW ]

Overview

Project Overview

Jamify is a specialty grocery app selling jams and preserves by flavor, strawberry, blueberry, honey, mango, and more. A shopper moves from browsing fresh picks, into a specific product page, and through to a cart with coupon codes and a checkout total. itcroc designed that flow around clear, comparable pricing and a warm, illustrated storefront identity, so a shopper never has to wonder whether the price they saw while browsing is the price they will actually pay

[ 02 - PROBLEM ]

Problem

The Challenge

A shopping app’s price has to be the one number a shopper never has to question, and the
supplied screens have two products where it does not hold. Strawberry Jam is priced 7.85
dollars on the home screen’s Fresh Picks, but the same jam’s product detail page shows 5.65
dollars struck through and a sale price of 2.49 dollars, three different figures for one item.
Blueberry Jam is priced 5.99 dollars while browsing, but appears in the cart at 5.35 dollars with
a -20% badge that does not reconcile against either number. A shopper who notices either
mismatch has a real reason to distrust every other price on the page, even the ones that are
correct.

Direction

Project Goals

• Reconcile the Strawberry Jam price across every screen, home, product detail, and any
promotional card, since a shopper currently sees three different figures for the same jar.
• Fix the Blueberry Jam discount math so the -20% badge in the cart actually derives from the
price shown while browsing, rather than landing on an unrelated number.
• Keep the checkout arithmetic exactly as built, since subtotal, discount, and total already
reconcile correctly and should not be touched, only the per-item prices feeding into them.
• Use one consistent format, a struck-through original price beside a current price, wherever a
discount applies, so a sale reads the same way on every screen instead of differently
depending on where a shopper encounters it.
• Keep the illustrated storefront hero and fruit-splash product photography, since that identity
is doing real work and is not part of the pricing problem.

The Solution

One illustrated identity across browse and detail

A hand-drawn storefront street sits behind the home screen’s search and categories, while fruitsplash product photography carries every jar shown afterward, so Jamify reads as a considered specialty shop rather than a generic grocery template.

Discounts shown the same way everywhere they appear
A struck-through original price beside the current price, as used on the Strawberry Jam detail page, is the one pattern for showing a discount, so a shopper learns to read a sale price the same way whether they are browsing or checking out.

A cart that already does its arithmetic correctly
Subtotal, a stated discount, and a final total already reconcile correctly in the supplied cart
screen, 30.20 dollars minus 5.36 dollars equals 24.84 dollars, so the fix here is upstream, making the per-item prices feeding that math consistent, not the math itself.

Quantity, rating, and price kept together on the product page
Premium Strawberry Jam pairs its price, a quantity stepper, and a star rating with a review count in one block, so a shopper decides how many to buy with cost and social proof both visible at the same time.
