Process-led website design for a landscape studio

VERDE, a London landscape studio, needed a site that sells gardens which take three seasons to become what the photographs show.

[ 01 - OVERVIEW ]

Overview

Project Overview

VERDE is a landscape design studio working across London and the South East, designing private gardens around planting, light, and how a household actually lives outdoors. A garden is an unusual thing to sell: it looks least like itself on the day it is handed over. itcroc LLC designed a site that treats time as part of the offer, pairing mature garden photography with a stated process running from first sketch to first season, plus three seasons of aftercare.

Problem

The Challenge

Most products look their best at delivery. A garden looks its worst: newly planted beds are
sparse, and the photography a client falls for shows a landscape three or four years on. That gap invites either disappointment at handover or marketing that quietly overpromises. VERDE also positions against decorative garden design, calm and resilient landscapes rather than
ornamental gardening, which is harder to show in a photograph than a colorful border. The site had to make the studio’s process and time commitment as visible as its planting.

Direction

Project Goals

• Make the time dimension explicit, first sketch to first season, so a client understands a
garden is delivered as a beginning rather than a finished object.
• State the aftercare commitment as a number, three seasons included, so the studio’s
involvement after planting is a checkable fact rather than an implied courtesy.
• Give the studio philosophy a position to agree or disagree with, rather than a general claim
to quality that every garden designer could also make.
• Separate the three services, planting design, build coordination, seasonal care, so a client
can tell which part of the work they are commissioning.
• Replace the placeholder marks in the trust strip before publishing, since two of the six logos
read as Logoipsum.

The Solution

Time built into the offer, not hidden from it
Planning, planting, and delivery run as a stated sequence, and the studio describes its work as spanning first sketch to first season, so a client reads a garden as something that arrives over time rather than on a single handover day.

A philosophy stated as a rejection
Calm, resilient landscapes not ornamental gardening draws a line against decorative garden
design, giving a prospective client a position to agree or disagree with instead of another
general promise of quality.

Process anchored to the site itself
Every site is visited and read in person before a single line is drawn, and every garden is shaped by one team end to end, turning method into two specific commitments rather than a vague assurance of care.

Small, checkable numbers instead of inflated ones
Founded 2012 with one London courtyard, forty-plus gardens since, and three seasons of
aftercare included sit together as modest verifiable figures, which reads as more credible for a studio this size than a large round number would.
