Dark luxury ecommerce design for a diamond jewelry brand

Clairé, a diamond jewelry brand, needed a dark, editorial ecommerce site that reads as fine jewelry without sacrificing brand consistency.

[ 01 - OVERVIEW ]

Overview

Project Overview

Clairé sells engagement rings, diamond necklaces, and fine jewelry through a dark, editorial ecommerce site built around large-format product photography and one warm gold accent against black. The homepage opens on an oversized marquise diamond ring set against a ghosted BRILLIANT wordmark, then moves through a signature collection story, a featured product pairing, and a best-selling grid, structured so each section reads as one continuous piece of jewelry editorial rather than a stacked landing page. itcroc LLC designed the layout, type scale, and section rhythm that hold that tone together.

[ 02 - PROBLEM ]

Problem

The Challenge

A dark, jewelry-editorial site depends on two things holding together: legibility against black, and a brand name that reads the same everywhere. The header wordmark reads Clairé, with the accent, but the footer copyright line reads Calire, no accent, a different spelling of the brand’s own name directly beneath it. The homepage also carries two spelling errors in visible headline copy, Colection and desginers, sitting inside sections meant to argue for careful craftsmanship. The hero’s marquise diamond, presented as the site’s centerpiece stone, is priced at 840 dollars, a figure that reads inconsistently against a diamond of that visual scale and against the 6,950 and 10,500 dollar pieces shown later on the same page.

Project Goals

  • Fix the footer brand name from Calire back to Clairé, since a mismatched wordmark undercuts a jewelry brand’s core promise of precision.
  • Correct the Colection and desginers typos in the hero and feature-collection headlines, since spelling errors sit directly under a craftsmanship claim.
  • Reconcile the 840 dollar hero price against the diamond’s visual scale and the 6,950 and 10,500 dollar pieces shown elsewhere on the page, so pricing reads as one deliberate system.
  • Keep the dark, full-bleed photography and single gold accent, since that restraint is what makes the site read as fine jewelry rather than a general accessories store.
  • Carry the ghosted display-type treatment, BRILLIANT and Italian Craftsmanship, consistently across sections, so the oversized wordmark motif reads as a system, not a one-off hero trick.

The Solution

A ghosted wordmark instead of a photograph

The hero opens on a huge, low-contrast BRILLIANT title behind the ring rather than a lifestyle photo, so the first message is the product’s scale and clarity, not a model.

One gold accent carrying every action

Every primary button, Shop Now, Explore the Collection, Shop Collection, uses the same warm gold against black and white text elsewhere, so the one moment of color always signals the same thing: act here.

Editorial pairing over a flat grid

Feature Collection and Signature Collection pair a lifestyle photo of a piece being worn against a photographed product on black, giving each item both context, how it is worn, and fact, what it costs, instead of isolating price from wear.

A closing statement instead of a form

The page ends on LUXURY JEWELRY CRAFTED TO BE YOURS, bracketed by two product photographs and a single Shop Collection action, giving a reader who has scrolled the whole story one clear next step instead of a generic newsletter signup.
